  About Us

Originally called Sam's Aluminum Sales & Service, Sam Markle founded the business in 1963 with a simple plan: treat customers with respect and give them quality products and quality workmanship. The plan worked and over the years Sam's Aluminum Sales & Service grew and prospered until in 1971 Sam felt it was time to have the business incorporated.

In 1980 Sam retired and ownership passed to his youngest son Tim who had grown up with the business working beside his father. Tim has continued the tradition and the plan but has added some of his own ideas along the way.

By 1981 the home improvement customer was looking for alternatives to wooden windows and doors so Tim introduced vinyl windows and steel doors to meet the changing demand for longer lasting products.

In 1986 outdoor recreation and backyard BBQ's had customers looking for protection from the sun - fabric awnings were the ideal solution - and Tim introduced them into the product line.

As the demand for home improvements grew so did the number of "home improvement" companies. Customers needed a way to separate the "here today, gone tomorrow" from the "here to stay" companies. In 1988, S.A.W.D.A.C (Siding And Window Dealers Association of Canada) was formed setting strict membership criteria and a code of ethics within the industry. Tim saw the advantage in meeting the membership criteria and joined the group. Sam's is still a member in good standing today.

In 1991-1992 Tim recognized that the name Sam's Aluminum Sales & Service limited a consumer's perception of the true product line and so he created the trade name Sam's Door & Window Centre.

Another opportunity to enhance the company's professional image came in 1998 when Tim registered it's products and installers with Window Wise. Window Wise is a program that is endorsed by Natural Resources Canada and Union Gas. To be part of the window wise program windows must be energy efficient and must be tested and proved to exceed building code. Installers must attend a window installation course and follow a strict criteria to ensure windows look and perform properly. Random audits are performed to ensure members are following all program criteria.

This year Sam's has added Energy Star Participant to it's credentials. The residential home improvement business is ever evolving. SAM's Aluminum Sales & Service and Sam's Door & Window Centre continue to strive toward their goal of Quality Products, Installations and Respect for it's customers.
